①Goal: I can listen to and understand introductions
▶Vocabulary
move in: 引っ越す
fly in: 飛行機で来る
meet [person]: 人に会う(初めて会った人はmeet、2回目以降はsee)
run into [person]: 人に偶然会う
start taking [language] lessons: 語学の授業を受け始める
▶Trivia
イタリアの都市名は、英語と日本語でかなり違う。
例えば、日本語で「フィレンツェ」が英語では「フローレンス」
日本語で「ローマ」が英語では「ローム」
日本語で「ミラノ」が英語で「ミラン」 と言う。
これは、日本語の読み方が元々のイタリア語の都市名から付けているからである。

9/10英会話振り返り
Goal: I can discuss good and bad table manners
▶Vocabulary
slurp: 音を立てて食べる
burp: げっぷをする
talk with your mouth full: 口に物を入れながら話す
cross your chopsticks: 箸を交差させる
put your elbows on the table: 机に肘をつく
pick up your bowl: 茶碗を持ち上げる
▶Grammar Tip
① verb + gerund
② verb + to infinitive
①②の両方とも使えて、なおかつ意味が同じ単語
start, prefer, like, continue, hate, love
(prefer, continueは、②の形が多い気がする…)
※ likeは①と②の両方の使い方ができるが、dislikeは①の使い方しかできないので注意!!
①②の両方とも使えるが、意味が異なる単語
remember, forget, stop
verb + gerund の使い方の時は、二個目の動詞が一個目の動詞よりも前に起こっている。
一方、verb + to infinitive の使い方の時は、二個目の動詞が後に起こっている。
▶Trivia
げっぷはほとんどの国で良くないマナーだとされているが、中国やバーレーンなど一部の国では、礼儀正しいものとみなされる!! 料理を堪能し満たされたことを示すのだという。

I said: You need boil the water and soy sauce in a pan.
Better: You need to boil the water and soy sauce in a pan.
I said: You can do.
Better: You can do it.
to や it は弱く発音されがちだけど、しっかりと発音する!
I said: I cook for my homework.
Better: I cooked in school before as a homework.
この言い方は頭に浮かばなかったので、しっかり覚えておく

Goal: I can read and understand a recipe
▶Vocabulary
broil: 強火で焼く、broilはオーブンを使って焼くときに使われる
(似たような単語でboilがあるが、boilは水を使って茹でるときに使う)
chop: みじん切りにする
dried bonito flakes: 鰹節
sesami seeds: 胡麻
seaweed: のり、わかめ
soy sauce: 醤油
pepper: 胡椒
▶Trivia
日本食を説明ときは、料理名を日本語のまま言ってそれがどのようなものか説明するとよい
ex) This is ochazuke. It's rice in green tea with some toppings.

save money: お金を貯める
save time: 手間を省く
read the label: 表示を確認する
like the selection: 特選品を選ぶ
be tired of [thing]: 物に飽きる
prefer food made from scratch: 手作りの品を好む
( from scratch が一から作るという意味)

Negative questions(否定疑問文)
・自分が正しいと思っていることを確認する時
ex) Didn't you eat cup noodles yesterday too?
・反応したり苦情を言ったりする時
ex) Don't you get tired of always drinking canned coffee?

ex) ✕ I just started a new diet. I go to the gym every morning.

定冠詞、不定冠詞は大切!

Accuracy
I said: Today is a first time.
Correct: Today is my first time.
I said: at late October
Correct: in late October
inは、長い期間を表す(年、月、季節)
onは、短い期間を表す(曜日、日付、決まった日)
atは、特定の時間を表す
I said: Almost half of people suffer from cancer.
Correct: Almost half of the majority / population suffer from cancer.
almost half of people だと、人を物理的に半分にするというニュアンスになるらしい...
peopleを使いたいのであれば、Almost half of the people とする
I said: I have pasta.
Correct: I had pasta.
時制に気を付ける
I said: It is juicy enough.
Correct: It is tasty enough.
juicyは、ステーキなどでしか使われない!!
